SUKHUM / AQW'A —  Abkhazia is gradually becoming part of the global Eurasian space, taking into account its transport, transit, and logistical potential, according to the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Bartsits.

Bartsits made the remarks during a meeting with students of the International Relations programme at Abkhaz State University, where he spoke about the outcomes of the 65th round of the Geneva Discussions and shared his vision of Abkhazia’s place in international politics over the next 10 to 15 years.

“I have no doubt that Abkhazia will inevitably take its rightful place in the global division of labour and in the global political and economic landscape. The system of international relations is undergoing a profound reassessment. In these highly complex processes, we must play our own sovereign role, naturally in alliance with our partners, with those who are willing to engage in dialogue with us, to extend a helping hand, or at least to listen to our truth,” the republic’s Foreign Ministry press service quoted the minister as saying.

Bartsits also expressed confidence that Abkhazia would remain a democratic state, grounded in its own distinctive traditional values.
