The evening in memory of Saria Lakoba is a joint-project of RUSDRAM with the Nestor Lakoba Museum and the Ministry of Culture of Abkhazia. 

SUKHUM -- An evening in memory of Saria Lakoba will be held on December 5 in RUSDRAM said Irakli Khintba, director-general of the Fazil Iskander Russian Drama Theatre, in an interview with Radio Sputnik.

Belshazzar’s Feast, or Night with Stalin

The film-exposé "Belshazzar’s Feast, or Night with Stalin", based on the work of Fazil Iskander "Sandro from Chegem", saw the light of day on 1 June 1989.

Shooting of the film began in Abkhazia, but the main scene, the feast of the Supreme Leader of the People and his acolytes, where the tables were bursting with refreshments, while the dances and songs of the Abkhazian artists forced applause from the managers of the Soviet Union as they stood on their feet, was filmed in one of the studios of Mos-Film.

The premiere of the immortal tragedy of William Shakespeare “Romeo and Juliet” took place on the stage of the Abkhaz Drama Theater on Wednesday, August 21. Actors played in the Abkhaz language. The director was Adgur Kove.

He said that there is a certain specificity in the work on the production of such a famous classic.For example, to find in the plot details that were omitted in other productions of the same play, and, on the contrary, draw the attention of the viewer to them.

Sukhum International Film Festival SIFF-2019 opened in the capital of Abkhazia

Sukhum International Film Festival, Abkhazia


The Second Sukhum International Film Festival was solemnly opened on Thursday, April 4. The SIFF-2019 festival is organised by the State Committee on Youth Policy of Abkhazia and will last until April 8.

This year, the competition initially received about 3,000 applications from around the world, of which 30 short films were selected. The number of nominees for the main prize included participants from Spain, France, Germany, South Korea, Poland, Kosovo, Iran, Estonia, Tunisia, Italy, Romania, Greece, China, Kazakhstan, Andorra, Turkey, Russia, Belarus and Abkhazia. The Grand Prix of the film festival provides for a cash reward of 200 thousand rubles.
