President submits draft law abolishing Vice Presidency to Parliament’s consideration

Alexander Ankvab submitted to the People's Assembly –the Parliament’s consideration a draft constitutional law on the amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia ‘On the abolition of the office of Vice President of the Republic of Abkhazia’.

The draft amendment offers to exclude articles 54 and 55 of the Constitution determining the order of electing Vice President and his powers and thereby abolish the office of Vice President in the Republic of Abkhazia.

The bill also offers to redraft article 66 of the Constitution, excluding Vice President from among the persons who can act for President in case the office is vacant.
