CCI of Abkhazia Attends Largest European Fashion Exhibition in Istanbul
ISTANBUL — The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia participated in the "Istanbul Fashion Connection," Europe's largest international ready to wear and fashion exhibition, held in Istanbul from 7-9 August. The visit was organised by Ibrahim Avidzba, the Plenipotentiary Representative of Abkhazia to Türkiye, who, alongside Kafkas Atryshba, Adviser to the Representative, accompanied the Abkhaz delegation throughout the event.
The CCI of Abkhazia was invited to the exhibition by the management of the Grand International Expo, underscoring the growing mutual understanding and desire for cooperation between the two countries. The event gathered leading designers, manufacturers, and specialists in fashion and textiles, serving as an excellent platform for experience sharing and the establishment of international relations. The exhibition featured hundreds of exhibition stands from 50 countries, including the European Union, Great Britain, Russia, the USA, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Representing the Chamber of Commerce and Industry were Naala Basaria, Head of the Department of External Relations and Investment, and Elina Kishmaria, Deputy Head of the Department. The Abkhazian delegation comprised 19 designers and fashion entrepreneurs, who eagerly embraced the opportunity to participate in the exhibition and to acquaint themselves with the work of international colleagues.
The exhibition provided these designers with a unique opportunity to observe the latest fashion trends, as well as the materials and technologies currently in use. Many participants noted that the experience not only broadened their perspectives but also inspired creative experimentation and innovation in their work.
Beyond the exhibition, the Abkhaz delegation engaged in discussions about current trends and challenges facing the fashion industry, as well as ideas for comprehensive programmes aimed at supporting young designers. A significant meeting took place with Türkiye's Trade Minister, Ömer Bolat, further cementing the ties between the two countries.
As part of the event, Fulat Kulaçoğlu, a member of the Board of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organised a business lunch, bringing together representatives from both chambers. The lunch served as a platform to discuss pressing issues and proposals for further cooperation, including experience exchange in various fields and the possibility of joint exhibitions.
The participation of the CCI and Abkhazian designers in the Istanbul Fashion Connection marks an important step toward strengthening cooperation with international colleagues. The Chamber is confident that this collaboration will yield mutual benefits for designers and enterprises in both countries. Moving forward, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia plans to continue its active participation in similar events, fostering the integration of Abkhazian businesses into the international community and supporting creative entrepreneurs in their pursuit of new heights.
