SUKHUM / AQW'A ―  A meeting was held in Parliament between MPs and representatives of the Council of Elders of Abkhazia, including the Chairman of the Council, Apollon Dumava, member Leonty Abgadzhava, and representative of the scientific intelligentsia Guram Gumba.

During the meeting, MPs were presented with a proposal, unanimously adopted by the Council of Elders, calling for the establishment of an advisory council under the aegis of the People’s Assembly of Abkhazia and the Council of Elders. This advisory body would include all political parties and public organisations in the country, as well as an expert commission tasked with developing a foundation for the Republic of Abkhazia’s Development Strategy.

The Council of Elders proposed that, until a basic platform for the Development Strategy is formulated, any consideration of laws that could cause division within society should be suspended.

MPs have pledged to review the Council of Elders' proposals in the near future.
