Sergey Shamba appointed Secretary of the Security Council of Abkhazia
SUKHUM -- President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania signed a decree on the appointment of Sergey Shamba as Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic, according to the Head of State’s website.
From October 2014, the position was held by Mohamed Kilba. On 16 January this year, he was dismissed from his post.
Sergey Shamba was born on March 15 1951 in Gudauta.
From 1997 to 2010 he headed the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia.
From February 2010 to September 2011, he headed the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic.
In 2004 and 2011 he ran for the presidency of Abkhazia.
Since December 2014, Sergey Shamba has been a member of the Parliament of the Republic.
Since January 2016, he has headed the republican political party "United Abkhazia".
