Lasha Ashuba Welcomes South Ossetian Delegation
SUKHUM / AQW'A — A delegation from South Ossetia will partake in the celebratory events marking the Victory and Independence Day of Abkhazia.
The delegation included Arsen Kvezerov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia on Economics, Small Business, and Agriculture, and Robert Ostaev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia on Defence and Security.
Ashuba expressed gratitude to his colleagues for supporting the people of Abkhazia on the anniversary of Victory and Independence. Arsen Kvezerov read a congratulatory message from the Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia. The letter emphasized that Victory Day symbolises the noble dream of the Abkhazian people, a day celebrating historical justice restored through severe trials and bloody struggle.
"Over the past years, independent and free Abkhazia has achieved success in realizing its right to establish a sovereign democratic state. It develops its economy and social sphere while preserving its rich cultural and historical heritage," read the Deputy.
The congratulatory letter also highlighted that the people of South Ossetia deeply value and respect their friendly relations with the Abkhazian people. The sides exchanged gifts; the delegation from South Ossetia presented Lasha Ashuba with a book on the history of the republic and medals in honour of the Heroes of the Soviet Union. In return, the Speaker of the Parliament of Abkhazia gifted his colleagues daggers with Abkhazian ornamentation and a photobook showcasing the beauty of the country.
