The confirmed candidates are:
- Badra Gunba, Acting President and Doctor of Economics;
- Adgur Ardzinba, former Minister of Economy and leader of the Abkhazian People’s Movement;
- Oleg Bartsits, former Trade Representative of Abkhazia in Moscow;

Each candidate is joined by a vice-presidential running mate, whose registrations are also under review. The registration process will continue for the next 10 days.
Several prominent figures withdrew from the race, including, opposition deputy Kan Kvarchia, People’s Party leader Shamil Adzynba and businessman Beslan Kvitsinia. Kvarchia cited health concerns as his reason for withdrawal, having sustained injuries during the violent unrest in the parliament building on 19 November 2024.
The Central Election Commission will oversee the registration process and ensure that all candidates meet the requirements to contest the election. The race is expected to be closely monitored amid heightened political activity in Abkhazia.
