Abkhazia should receive an answer to the question about the fate of David Sigua - Stanislav Lakoba
Secretary of the Security Council of Abkhazia, Stanislav Lakoba, received the new Coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Niels Scott in Abkhazia.
The meeting discussed the prospects for the Geneva consultations on security in the Caucasus, as well as various projects in Abkhazia, which are financed by this international organisation.
On the issue of human rights, Stanislav Lakoba said that even the new leadership of Georgia had consigned to oblivion the case of citizen of Abkhazia David Sigua, who as head of the Gal District election commission was kidnapped in the city of Gal on 3 February 2007 by Georgian special services.
"Why has this atrocity by the former Georgian authorities not been investigated nor made public to the present day?", asked the Secretary of the Security Council of Abkhazia. The Abkhazian side is determined once again to raise the issue at the Geneva discussions in order that various international organisations should finally become seriously interested in the tragic fate of David Sigua. "Abkhazia should receive an answer to this question," S. Lakoba stressed.
