Presidential Administration Responds to Misinformation on President Bzhaniya's Moscow Visit

SUKHUM / AQW'A ― The Presidential Administration's Media Relations Department has responded to unreliable information regarding President Aslan Bzhaniya's visit to Moscow that has been circulating in various periodicals and social networks.

The statement noted that false reports about discussions on the status of the Republic of Abkhazia during the visit have been circulating in various periodicals and on the internet. Regrettably, some citizens and public organizations in Abkhazia have also started to disseminate these messages.

"The basis of the constitutional order of the Republic of Abkhazia, as a sovereign, democratic, and legal state, established historically by the right of the people to free self-determination, is enshrined in law and is not subject to discussion. President Aslan Bzhaniya exercises his powers in strict accordance with the laws and the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia, of which he is the guarantor of execution," the statement says.

The Presidential Administration states that "public appeals based on unverified and unreliable information about the alleged discussion of the status of the Republic of Abkhazia can be considered an attempt by some citizens and public associations to baselessly and unfoundedly accuse the leadership of Abkhazia of undermining the foundations of the constitutional order."

The press service of President Bzhaniya has urged citizens to disregard false information from unreliable sources.

President Bzhaniya departed for Moscow on February 14th and has been attending a series of meetings at the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation. Recently, it was reported that President Bzhaniya had met with Rashid Nurgaliyev, the First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, where they discussed current issues and bilateral cooperation in the field of security between Abkhazia and Russia.
