SUKHUM / AQW’A —  The public organisation "Abaza" from the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, which defends the rights and interests of the Abkhazian people, has issued a heartfelt appeal. Below is the full statement translated into English.

"The public organisation "ABAZA" of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, dedicated to protecting the rights of citizens and the interests of the Abkhazian people, addresses this message to the people of Abkhazia.

We are observing the unfolding events in the Republic of Abkhazia with great concern. The aspirations of the people are paramount; however, any expression of the people’s will must be conducted within the framework of legality and order. Fortunately, bloodshed has been avoided, but tensions remain high.

Dialogue between the authorities and the opposition is essential, and we firmly believe that a wise solution can be found. The Abkhazian people have faced this political crisis as a nation that, during the most challenging moments of its history, has demonstrated that its hard-won freedom and independence must be strengthened.

Therefore, all events must take place within the boundaries of the Law and the Constitution.
