Nishan Vanacha and Shamil Marshan have repatriated from Syria in Abkhazia
SUKHUM -- Two of our countrymen, Nishan Vanacha and Shamil Marshan, have come from Syria to Abkhazia.
On Friday 17 February, they were received by Foreign Minister Viacheslav Chirikba. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Turkey and Middle Eastern Section at Abkhazia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Inar Gitsba, and Deputy-Chairman of the State Committee for Repatriation, Akhmat Marshan.
Nishan Vanacha is an architect; Shamil Marshan graduated from the Industrial College. They are currently living in house of rest "Abkhazia" in Sukhum.
As Nishan Vanacha said at the meeting with the Minister, he came to Abkhazia in order to create conditions for the repatriation of all his family to their historical homeland. He also said that two of his nephews were planning to move to Abkhazia soon.
"The meeting discussed specific measures to assist families who will soon be repatriated to Abkhazia. Today the Republic of Abkhazia’s Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the State-Committee for Repatriation is assisting in the repatriation of two families (thirteen persons - AP) of our compatriots in Syria who had requested help to return to their historical homeland," Inar Gitsba said on Monday 20 February at a briefing.
According to him, the arrival in Abkhazia of our Syrian compatriots was made possible thanks to the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia, in sending a government-mission to Syria (in the shape of the Chairman of the State-Committee for Repatriation and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and of the Federation of Abkhazian cultural centres in Turkey - AP).
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs re-confirms its readiness together with the State-Committee for Repatriation to facilitate in every way the repatriation of our compatriots abroad who wish to return to their historical motherland," said Inar Gitsba, Head of the Turkey and Middle Eastern Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
