First orders of the Ministry of Health paid from funds collected by entrepreneurs of Abkhazia
Fight against coronavirus continues
SUKHUM -- “The first payments for orders of the Ministry of Health of Abkhazia were made from funds collected by local entrepreneurs on Tuesday 31 March,” said Boris Bartsits, a member of the Inter-departmental Operational Headquarters for the Protection of the Population from the Coronavirus, and representative of the ‘We are Together’ movement.
"Fund-raising initiated by entrepreneurs of Abkhazia continues. Many have already responded, and by lunch today 23,400,000 roubles ($298,000) have been raised. The first payment was made from abroad; a compatriot from Turkey transferred the first amount in dollars. And today the first payments were made," said Bartsits.
He specified that applications of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for the purchase of disinfectants for the Ministry of Emergencies of Abkhazia in the amount of 950 thousand rubles ($12,000) were paid for, and also about seven million roubles ($88,970) were allocated for the purchase of medical supplies for the country’s intensive care units in medical facilities and for consumables for one hundred people on mechanical ventilation.

"The main task for today is to find ventilators. There is hope that tomorrow we shall have confirmed the opportunity to purchase 21 ventilators. If this is possible, we need to take the entire batch. So far, we don’t have enough money for the whole batch, but we hope that we shall manage to collect the necessary amount," said Bartsits.
The next payment from the collected funds may be for protective equipment for Abkhazia’s doctors and a test-system for determining coronavirus-infection to the amount of at least ten thousand.
On 26 March, entrepreneurs of the republic met with the acting President of Abkhazia Valeri Bganba. They discussed issues related to the threat of the spread of coronavirus-infection COVID-2019 in Abkhazia. Then, an initiative group of entrepreneurs created the platform “We [Are] Together”, where one can find all the details for transferring funds to help Abkhazia in the fight against coronavirus.
The Moscow diaspora has purchased the first batch of medical care for Abkhazia
The first batch of medicines and medical devices for the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Abkhazia has been purchased. This was reported on the official page of the Moscow Abkhazian diaspora.
In total, 5,498,000 roubles ($70,000) have already been deposited in the special account of the Moscow Abkhazian diaspora, of which five million were deposited by the Chairman of the Moscow Abkhazian diaspora, Beslan Agrba.
"Recirculators, pulse-oxiometers, respiratory-masks, as well as 2 mechanical ventilation devices (IVL) for a total of 520 thousand roubles ($6,630) were purchased," the report stated.
