20th anniversary of the March offensive was marked in Sukhum

SUKHUM -- Today memorial service is held in the whole country on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the March offensive in the war of the people of Abkhazia. On March 15, 1993 the formations of the Abkhazian army crossed the Gumista River and captured the strategically important heights near Sukhum. During the March battle for the capital of Abkhazia 222 fighters of the Abkhazian army were killed, several hundred people were injured and 23 people are missing.

The leadership and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia took part in the ceremony of laying the commemorative wreath at the memorial to those killed in the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia 1992-1993 in the Park of Glory in Sukhum.
