95-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 in Abkhazia has passed away
SUKHUM -- The patient born in 1925 who tested positive for COVID-19 in Abkhazia has passed away. This was the first fatal case of a patient with coronavirus in Abkhazia.
The patient was diagnosed with COVID-19 on April 11, but she refused hospitalisation for more than a week, giving consent only on April 20 after significant deterioration.

She was in the Gudauta hospital and died on the morning of April 26 from complications caused by COVID-19 and multiple concomitant chronic diseases, the operational headquarters for protecting the population of Abkhazia from coronavirus reported.
"Doctors did everything necessary, but, unfortunately, due to their age, they could not cope with the disease," said the chief therapist of the Ministry of Health of Abkhazia.
